The young people are the core of the community. They are the emerging entrepreneurs, scientists, proprietors, educationalist, politicians and many more professions not limited to these.
We have a responsibility as a community to nurture the young people’s gifts, talents and other skills so they can reach their full potential and blossom in their individual fields. We have a responsibility to guide, mentor and coach them.
From a small seed stems a gigantic tree, only when the necessary elements have been embedded. Without the sun, the water, the manure, the care, or the cultivation, the tree withers.
The young people in Pitsea will not wither, there is hope for them. We must take time to listen to their views and suggestions. For a while their voice has been silent, as they may possible have been represented by other people, some have dropped out of mainstream education, some have been labelled, some have faced various difficulties endlessly.
It is time we look out for their needs, it is time we find out how they fell into that situation or circumstances. It is time we shelve away self and give thought and undivided attention to these young people.
#VOICE will encourage and enable the young people to come out of their shells to speak without being judged. There has been too much negativity within this locality, however, we are about to experience a gradual shift and we will see positive outcomes.
It will not be achieved by Essex Community Development, it will not be achieved by a small group, it will not be achieved by a large scale meeting in one day, it will be achieved by people that care coming together regardless of the cost and the time. Rather, it will be achieved by the community uniting and pulling strong together.
ECD are speaking to young people at schools, at home and on the streets, requesting them to complete surveys, so we can capture what really matters to them, what they know about the community, how they feel about the community and possibly changes they could bring to their communities given the opportunity.
The key focus of the survey will be on the following:
- Roles & Responsibilities of our local Council and MP
Help from local individuals and stake holders is most welcome. We are keen in engaging as many locals as possible.
